I spent two and a half years in various departments at Apple Word Trade Center.
Initially, I was brought in as a Technical Specialist, which is an IT professional who specialized in iOS devices.
I met with over 500 customers to troubleshoot, diagnose and remedy their hardware, software and user issues.
In addition to being a technical specialist, I also worked in business sales and lead generation. Out of a staff of over 200 people, I acquired the most business leads for the year. I was top two in lead generation for the entire New York City Market.
My interest in business sales gained me two unique privileges at Apple: I was granted a six-month career experience where I worked on in-store business team, meeting with clients in store and setting up sales calls. I also became the de facto business trainer in the store, working with technicians to show them how to integrate sales opportunities into technical troubleshooting interactions. I was a guest business trainer at three Apple stores in New York
I also served as a Guest Creative, which are the teachers at Apple. I led classes on product demo and proctored iPhone photo tours around Manhattan.
Working with so many people on a daily basis and working with an ever-rotating roster of devices was a crash course in UX. I learned what people expected from software and devices - I watched the fear, joy, and frustration that comes with trying new technology.
Most importantly, I learned about the Apple Ecosystem, have a deep understanding of iPhone users, app design for usability and how Apple products interact with other technology from all over the world.
Apple made me interested in how products are made and marketed. At the end of 2.5 years, I decided to return to school and pursue a marketing degree.
